2 1/2

A mom from Hank's playgroup sent this along this week and it gave us all a good laugh...

Definition of toddler (according to urban dictionary)
Tiny bipolar humans under the age of 3, who can swing rapidly between endearingly cute antics and screaming, kicking, biting fits of rage. Completely unpredictable and often unintelligible lovable little walking blessings/nightmares disguised as tiny human beings with giant heads. Prone to selective hearing and repeating overheard curse words at inopportune moments. More dangerous when traveling in packs. Evolutionarily speaking, it is ridiculous that humans have the ability to reproduce fast enough to be the parent of more than one toddler at a time.

There must be something about the age 2 1/2-just when I think I am about to lose it from asking Hank the same question 48 times with no response, he'll turn to me and say something ridiculously cute, smart, or witty that makes me realize how much I love that little guy.  Perfect example-just now as I'm trying to write this as Hank "eats" breakfast next to me.  I've asked him at least 5 times to stop putting syrup in his hair ( he calls it his hair gel-and thinks its hilarious of course)-he ignores my requests and then looks at me and says "don't be cross with me mama-I doin my hair" (I'm guessing this came from Thomas-sounds like something those English trains would say).

Parenting a toddler is an exhausting and challenging task, but he certainly keeps us laughing now that Hank can actually have a conversation with us and give us some insight into whats in that head.  I love most about this age is how Hank is so interested in the world-the most mundane tasks like grocery shopping are an exciting adventure now with Hank.  He loves just doing things with me and his dad, and I know that won't last forever.  I love that I get no less than 50 hugs, kisses, and "I love you moms" a day.

A photo montage of life with Hank-most of these are taken with my phone because he moves so much and so quickly that I never have time to capture things with my big camera!

Me: "Hank, what are you doing?" Hank: "eating my toes"
"Ready to go to Joes" (Trader Joes)-assault rifle and juice ready in case we run into any trouble at Joes.
Waiting for Dad to get home from work so he can make a fire to roast marshmallows
Always excited to be going somewhere-and who doesn't need their Thomas Easter basket with them at all times?
Learning how to make lemonade with mom
Trip to the zoo with Andie-these two look like they need to get a room!
This boy LOVES the water-he's exclaiming here "IT'S SUMMERTIME"
Very into haircuts now after his dad cut his hair on the porch.
Loves his baby sister.  He always wants to know "where's Lulu?"

Lucy Jane 6 weeks old

Good grief! 6 weeks already?  Lucy, or Lulu as Hank loves to call her, just continues to be such a sweet, cuddly, mellow baby.  She's growing like crazy, and at her doctor's visit today we found out that you are exactly the same size to the ounce and inch that Hank was when he was born!  Lucy loves to be held, and is super snuggly; although she is completely content to bounce in her bouncy chair or hang out on the floor with her happy apple.  She gives us "googly eyes" now as she's trying to focus on objects, the first real smiles should be here any day now!  She is already sleeping pretty much through the night-usually a long 7 hour stretch and only up once.  I mean, if all babies were as easy as Lucy, I'd have 5 more :)  Hank is still smitten with his sister-he tells her constantly that he loves her and that she's sooo cute.  He's recently started saying that she's his best friend, which makes me sad cause he used to tell me that!

How you measured up:
Height: 22 inches 39th% (19 inches at birth)
Weight: 8 lbs 14 oz 18th% (6lbs 1 oz at birth)
Head: 15 inches 83rd % (13 inches at birth)

Likes at 6 weeks:
  • Tummy time!  Unlike Hank who would scream bloody murder if he even thought he was about to be put on his tummy, you love it!  You will gladly hang on your tummy for 30 minutes at a time.
  • Your pacifier and sometimes I find you sucking on your fist
  • Grunting!!
  • Being carried like a football on your belly on someone's arm
  • The glow worm
  • Looking in mirrors at yourself or looking at Mr. Happy Apple (a family heirloom)
  • bouncing in your bouncy chair-or any other form of motion
  • sleeping snuggled up against mama
  • laying on your changing table looking out the window
  • the sound of the vacuum cleaner-puts you to sleep immediately
  • bows in your hair (or at least mommy likes to think so)

Dislikes at 6 weeks:
  • Gas-sorry Lulu for sharing this with the world, but you are a gassy baby.  It is just about the only thing that will get you fussing
  • the hiccups
  • when I swaddle your arms in-you like to have them up above your head when you sleep
  • when you realize you've been left alone sleeping somewhere-you love to cuddle!

One month birthday

"Really mom?" "Do I need to sit up in this crazy chair?"

Being all fancy in my skirt now that I'm 6 weeks old
 The beginnings of a smile??
Kicked back, chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool....

Easter Weekend

Some photos of our Easter weekend......

Hank is really into making "funny faces" right now
Since we decided against the double stroller (mostly because Hank has refused to ride in a stroller for nearly a year) Hank now gets lots of rides on dad during our walks.  Surprise, Surprise, now that baby Lucy rides in a stroller, Hank wants to ride also-likely a passing trend.
The Easter bunny is really creepy if you ask me, but Hank just loves him.  He kept asking how the bunny would get to our house, uhh...a car?  Now that I have an inquisitive 2 year old I'm realizing that the whole easter bunny story is not nearly as well thought out as the Santa thing is.

On one of many easter egg hunts-note the Thomas easter basket-a favorite from Aunt Susie and Uncle Kevin

Dyeing eggs with dad-I think its been at least 15 years since I've had the old Paas kit out!  Hank loved this project

Me and my sweet girl in her easter dress
My precious babies-I just love how Lucy has such an adoring look on her face, like she already looks up to her big brother.
